Staying at Beech Croft Farm this summer? You could enjoy the ultimate family or adult outdoor adventure experience with Peaks & Paddles.

Try your hand at canoeing, caving, rock scrambling or even abseiling from the viaduct at nearby Millers Dale. Whatever you choose activities are tailored to suit all ages and abilities, led by friendly, fully-qualified activity instructors.

Here are just a few examples of activities on offer….

Abseiling at Millers Dale Viaduct

A popular activity, abseiling instruction is provided for all ages and abilities based at Millers Dale Viaduct, just a short walk from Beech Croft Farm. You’ll be sliding down a rope backwards from a great height – around 80 feet – before gracefully (and safely) landing at the bottom, back on two feet once more!

It’s one person at a time, so groups are deliberately kept small – max 8 people. All saftey equipment is provided.

Caving at Devonshire Mine, Matlock Bath

Come and discover an underground world over 300 million years old. The Devonshire Mine offers an excellent adventure for families and adults alike. A relativly dry trip exploring lots of interconnecting passageways – a real feeling of getting lost!! Looking at some formations and the different mining techniques used to extract lead in days gone by.

Half-Day Canoe Adventure

For those who have never been in a canoe before, this is a great way to start. Learn basic canoe handling techniques with your partner on calm, flat water. A short journey will be incorporated to gain confidence with your new skills. Challenges and games can be set for those that require further challenge! Venues used could be either the Cromford or Chesterfield canal.
