History of Beech Croft Farm
Building the new facilities block in 2011
Beech Croft Farm
Beech Croft Farm caravan & campsite is owned & run by John & Julie Gregory & their daughter Jodie. John & Julie took over the running of the farm in 1989 when John’s father died suddenly. John’s Mother ran the caravan site alone for 20 years until ill health forced her to retire in 2005 & John & Julie took over the running of the site.
John’s father, whose family farmed in Blackwell for several generations, bought Cottage Farm from the Duke of Devonshire’s Chatsworth Estate when he married in the 1950’s
He diversified into tourism in 1974 and we have successfully continued to run the Caravan and Campsite since 2006, alongside our small farm.
We changed the name to Beech Croft Farm as Johns mum still lives in the original farmhouse at Cottage Farm
In 2011 we gave the site a facelift and built a new toilet & shower block and extended the small pitches in to a new area so that our pitches are now all reasonably sized & we put electric in to all of the camping fields. Each year we think of ways we can improve and have new projects over the winter months. 2019 being the year we opened our new reception & shop. 2021 being the year we opened Daisies Coffee Shop.
Jodies husband Dan (with help from John) has now taken over the running of the farm and keeps approx. 30 beef cattle & 30 sheep. If you visit in Spring you may see baby sheep & calves.
We want our visitors who stay on our site to be able to enjoy our flexible, friendly approach to running our park, to enjoy our lovely rural location, peace & quiet & the many wonderful local walks direct from our park. Everyone’s favourite is the Monsal Trail which is easily accessed from the Pennine Bridleway which runs past the park entrance.
